Meeting Minutes
On Sunday, January 29th, the annual meeting of the Morningside Home Owners Association was held in the Morningside Way Cul-de-sac. Board Chair Ben Whipple called the meeting to order shortly after 4:00 p.m.
The primary topic was the election of Board Members & Officers:
- Ben stated that all board members were willing to continue serving, but would step aside if other neighbors wanted to get involved
- No neighbors had previously, or then, expressed interest in serving
- The current board was unanimously re-elected:
- Ben Whipple, President
- Benny Nixon, Vice President
- Matt Huff, Treasurer
- Jimmy Newland, Secretary
- Lauren Heavern
- Andrew Johnson
- Mike Pilcher
The second big topic was the budget/finances:
- Ben explained the increase of $2,000 in the trash pickup cost – but assured the community that the board had done its due diligence in trying to keep costs down
- Ben also reported that the board had agreed to absorb that shortfall through the $45,000 reserve that we still have
- Dues will remain $400 and are due at the end of February
The floor was opened for input, questions, and suggestions. The primary action item that came out was the request/suggestion for some type of directory to help put names and faces and houses together to help us get to know one another better. The consensus seemed to be that it was a good idea, but recognizing we need to consider privacy issues for those who may not want information known. The board will take this up for further discussion.
After everyone had a chance to speak, the meeting was adjourned.
